List of activities

It will be necessary a registration in all practice activities. In some of them the number of participants will be limited.

For sea activities the participants will have to be equipped with clothes accorded to the weather conditions and should be equipped with the appropriate material for the activity.

Most of the land activities will be open door and interactive activities inside the kayak city so that the number of participants will be only limited for the room capacity or the place capacity of the activity.

We will try that the explanations will be understandable for everybody and with active participation, if there is enough material for everybody the companions will be able to assist to this activities as listeners.

We will try to do a short summary of the explanations in the official languages.

The water activities of practicing have four different levels which we have numerated from 0 to 3.

When an activity has all this four different levels is that we think that depending on the people registered we would be able to make different groups.

Also having these four levels we reserve the right that if the weather conditions are complicated, only the maximum level (III) will be accepted.

Later we will inform about the speakers of each activity, the recommended material and the timetables.

Level 0

This are activities for all the participants, they are basically informative, visuals, interactive. The participation doesn't mean to be in the water if you don't want to.

Level 1 Initiation

To participate in this activities every participant should wear the life jacket, the boats should have the maximum floatability in prow and stern.
You should follow the security rules of the organization

Level 2 Middle

All the participants should have the basic security material and for participating in some activities, when indicated, they should take the specific material for it.

Level 3 Expert

All the participants should have the basic security material and the material needed to assist and help any other participant in trouble.

For the water activities, it is recommended to wear the appropriate clothes accorded to the weather conditions.

Walrus pull
Be prepared to be dragged sideways by the harpooned walrus. Maligiaq will show us how to resist the walrus pull. Our walrus will be replaced by several people pulling the rope from the beach. On the other side of the rope Maligiaq will try to resist the pull.

Learn the basic fundaments about the coastal navigation, going through, marking, delays, course… you would be able to put this in practice in Navigation II

Navigation II
Prepare one navigation chart with all the possible difficulties during the itinerary, make notes of a course, distances, alternative routes… for this you will have to know how tides work, running, the winds, the effects of the moon in the tides, the twelfth rule, understand how these factors and others work, it is essential for the security in the navigation.

Practice the paddling technique with exercises; correct your mistakes with the feedback of the speaker and the help from the video.

Techniques and manoeuvres I
If it is not the first time you get into a sea kayak, it is time to progress, control and manoeuvre your kayak with turns, supports… with winds, lateral winds…..
